1891 Society

In 1891, the visionary Pasadena philanthropist Amos G. Throop laid the foundation for a school that would evolve into Caltech. The institution underwent a transformation in 1920 when it was renamed the California Institute of Technology. Propelled by the collective and enduring efforts of numerous people who believed in its mission of expanding human knowledge and benefiting society through research integrated with education, Caltech swiftly ascended to prominence as a leading center for scientific investigation, cutting-edge technology, and academics of the highest caliber.

It is in the spirit of this remarkable legacy that the Caltech Fund takes pride in acknowledging donors who contribute on a recurring monthly basis as esteemed members of the 1891 Society. This steadfast, ongoing support is a strategic investment that provides a dependable wellspring of resources to further the Institute's mission. These funds actively propel research, increase the Institute's competitive edge in recruiting and retaining top faculty, and make it possible for Caltech to offer scholarships and fellowships to talented students. When you join the 1891 Society, you become an integral partner in sustaining excellence and innovation at Caltech.
