Areas to Support

The Caltech Fund is dedicated to raising unrestricted support from alumni, parents, and other friends. These flexible gifts help the Institute maintain its position as a world leader in scientific research and education because they can be allocated where they will have the greatest impact—whether it’s financial aid for students, support for faculty, or resources to advance important research initiatives.

You may direct your Caltech Fund gift to any of the following areas:

Caltech Fund

When you give to the Caltech Fund, you support the Institute's core activity—bringing talented students and faculty together and supporting them in their teaching, learning, and research. You give Caltech leadership the flexibility to direct your gift where it will have the greatest impact on students, faculty, and research.

Graduate Fellowships

Fellowships allow graduate students to follow their academic passions and concentrate on their coursework and research without the burden of debt. When you give to Graduate Fellowships through the Caltech Fund, you empower grad students to freely partner with world-class faculty and to explore, challenge, and discover without interruption or distraction.

Undergraduate Scholarships

When you give to Undergraduate Scholarships through the Caltech Fund, you support students who rely on financial aid to attend Caltech. In the 2021–22 academic year alone, more than half of our undergraduates received financial aid, and the average need-based financial aid package was $56,000. Your gift enables these students to take full advantage of the Caltech experience—in and out of the classroom.

Caltech Parents Fund

Caltech parents and families are vital members of our community, and the Caltech Parents Fund harnesses the collective support and engagement of parents and families to enrich their students' academic experience. Parents' contributions are put to immediate use to support diverse facets of student life, including scholarships, fellowships, summer research opportunities, and other co-curricular opportunities. Equally important, the Caltech Parents Fund fosters a sense of community and shared commitment among parents, creating a powerful network dedicated to enhancing the educational journey for all students at Caltech.

Reunion Giving

Reunions mark important milestones and provide opportunities for Caltech alumni to reflect on their student experiences, reconnect with the Institute, engage with their classmates, and celebrate their lives and career accomplishments since graduation. Reunion gifts have an impact on all areas of the Institute, supporting the academic journeys of current undergraduates and graduate students and strengthening Caltech's leadership in science, technology, and education.

Your contribution is considered a reunion gift if you give between October 1 and September 30 in the year of your reunion.

In 2024, we are celebrating class years ending in 4 and 9.

Senior Class Giving

Each year since 1948, members of Caltech's senior class have come together to support the Institute before embarking on their post-graduation journeys. The annual Senior Class Gift campaign rallies seniors to celebrate the milestone of graduation. It also offers members of the senior class an opportunity to make a difference for their faculty mentors and the juniors, sophomores, and first-year students who will follow in their footsteps.
The Class of 2024 supported the Caltech Y with their Senior Class Gift initiative.

Giving Day

Giving Day is an annual fundraising event where Caltech alumni, faculty, staff, parents, and other friends come together to support the Institute by giving to the Caltech Fund. For 2024, Giving Day took place on April 24.
